AT&T violated federal and state laws by surreptitiously allowing the government to monitor phone and internet communications of AT&T customers without warrants.

This was to be expected especially with all those Patriot Act shinanigans.

Wired News: Whistle-Blower Outs NSA Spy Room

And not long after the EFF started to put a stop to this, Big brother comes in to protect its right to stomp all over the Bill of Rights:

The Bush administration formally said Friday that it will try to halt a lawsuit that accuses AT&T of helping the National Security Agency spy on Americans illegally… The state secrets privilege, outlined by the Supreme Court in a 1953 case, permits the government to derail a lawsuit that might otherwise lead to the disclosure of military secrets.

Bush administration invokes “state secrets” in suit against NSA

So much for civil rights.

Sounds like someone’s watching way too many X-Files reruns.

Wired News: Terrorist or UFO Truth Seeker?

Seems like the damaged caused is the really the amount of money the government is using to take this guy to court.  What a waste.  Like its really gonna deter others from trying to break in.  Whats most disturbing is the recent trend in treating more and more criminals as terrorists rather than just some nut case thinking hes one of the Lone Gunmen.

Food and Lackeys and Sycophants26 Apr 2006 10:07 pm

A Roxboro woman has filed a formal complaint with a local school board after her son was disciplined by a lunch program monitor at Ecole Lalande for eating in what she says is a customary Filipino manner.

Luc Cagadoc’s table behaviour is traditionally Filipino; he fills his spoon by pushing the food on his plate with a fork, his mother, Maria Theresa Gallardo, says.

But after being punished by his school’s lunch program monitor more than 10 times this year for his mealtime conduct including his technique the seven-year-old told Gallardo said last week that he was too embarrassed to eat his dinner.

When he eats with both a spoon and fork, instead of only one utensil, the Grade 2 student said the lunch monitor moves him to a table to sit by himself.

Filipino table etiquette punished at local school

Lunch Monitor needs to get a life.

Nice to see that there are still a handful of people in the world with some fucking sense.

Judge Rules Web-surfing worker can’t be fired

Shady vultures:

Los Angeles Times: Seniors Get a Hard Sell on Fee-Laden Annuities

These types of brokerage and insurance agents thirsty for a commission really do put on the pressure to sell you that piece of mind.  But I suspect that this type of behavior will continue because people fail to realize that a company is not your friend.  They are out to make money not be your damn pal.

In the last two weeks I’ve seen the price at the local gas station raise 3 times to its current $3.13 for 87 octane. WTF, man?! Thats the fucking cheap one. At an ARCO! AND the second week isn’t even over. So finally someone notices:

GOP urges price-gouging probe on gas

Too bad we already know how this will turn out. They’ll find something, then the gas industry will give them something, then our government will say they saw nothing.

I hate coming home from the gas station with my ass sore. Insurance, maintenance, registration, gas prices…might have to consider MTA.

BREITBART.COM - 3 Arrested at Mass. Baby Shower Brawl

What’s the best reason you can think of for this fight to start? Sounds like drugs, definitely beer maybe even a little sherm.

“No! I bet it was going to be a girl”

“There were seven safety pins in the rice!”

I can’t beleive this. The Internet Regulations and Legislation Bureau is the FCC of television imposed on free internet sites (ebaumsworld, break.com, etc). They begin implementing on June 1, 2006. How can we consider this country land of the free when people can make beach property private. Now I got to worry about getting my web site censored. I don’t see any bright light at the end of this tunnel.
