City Slacker Office Peon Gets the Axe

“The workplace is not an appropriate place for games,” Bloomberg said. “It’s a place where you’ve got to do the job that you’re getting paid for.”

What an asshole.  How can you take a picture with the guy, shake his hand and then tell your aide to have him fired.

News from The Associated Press

Upper management is usually the worst offender of these types of “games” because their gaming isn’t limited to just a shitty windows game but the finances of the institution. They buy shit they don’t need for the office and waste employee resources on meaningless tasks which are usually detrimental to their workplace environment or simply benefiting themselves. And yet they always get off with a slap on the wrist.

This city worker might have been the most productive employee there but was fired on what appears to be a knee-jerk reaction. Its clear that they looked in his file to see that he signed a piece of paper saying he read the rules–why not look at his evaluations/work performance and base disciplinary action on that? Or leave it up to his direct supervisor to do their job? In fact, why wasn’t the supervisor aware of these nefarious computing practices.  You’d think he might try to prevent this sort of behavior when the mayor stops by. Micromanaging at its finest.
