Essentially the data broker companies are complaining about recent legislation that allows consumers free credit reports every 12 months instead of paying for these “products.” These companies really did it to themselves. If they hadn’t fucked up and gave their “products” away to nefarious users or put more effort into securing them, they probably wouldn’t have to give them away to consumers for free.

In defining what a significant breach might entail, he replied, “We’re looking at millions of files, three million files now in these so-called breaches (in the news)…. I don’t think you’ve seen our name in the news.”

Sounds like the difference between a significant and insignificant fuckup is whether or not its in news…

When pressed to say whether his company had notified consumers when it experienced insignificant breaches, he replied, “I’m not going to go there. I’m not going to answer that question. We have been notifying and engaging in communication with customers, consumers, for a long time. We’re known for that. We’re known for our stand on privacy.”

And therefore, they don’t communicate jack shit.
